We arrived in Akaroa where we had to tender into town. This is a new port because Lyttleton collapsed during the earthquake of 2011. Beautiful little harbor and quaint town.
Silly me, I had forgotten I had booked a private car for the day and it turned out to be quite a good deal at the end.
Julie and I took off for ChristChurch which was an hour and a half away and a very scenic drive through the mountains with wonderful sites!
The next couple of photos will show just a wee bit of the devastation of this earthquake. It has been almost 3 years and there are still buildings that need to come down and others that need to be fixed!
